Dystopian Rhythm Podcast 065 – Jesse Jakob
Jesse Jakob has been an integral part of the Minneapolis techno community for close to 20 years as a DJ, producer, and event promoter. As a promoter, his agency was on the forefront of booking national and international talent on the rise; playing host to some of the biggest names in techno in recent years, from Marcel Dettmann and Ben Klock’s first trips to the states to Midwest showcases by the likes of Levon Vincent, Peter Van Hoesen, Anthony Parasole, Oliver Ho, Drumcell, Function, Silent Servant and many more.
As a DJ, Jesse has over 15 years of experience as resident DJ for his agency and at Minneapolis’ premiere club First Avenue. Sticking to the tried and true methods of turntables and CDJ’s, his stripped down house and techno sound has fully matured and his sets are tension filled full body workouts. From early night opening vibes to peak hour pummeling techno sets, his deep musical knowledge gives him complete command in any situation. Never one to pre plan a set, each set is a story of it’s own and is crafted in the moment, leaving the audience with a unique dancefloor experience.
Jesse made his production debut with a much sought after 12″ on Jonas Kopp’s Traut Muzik imprint in late 2012. The Time Resistance EP, which featured remixes from Jonas Kopp and Kevin Gorman, received heavy support from the likes of Marcel Dettmann, DJ Deep, Dave Clarke, Len Faki, Pfirter, Par Grindvik, Henning Baer, Rodhad, Truncate, Dustin Zahn, Jeroen Search, Max M, Darko Esser, Marcelus, Kyle Geiger, Anthony Parasole, and many more.
The early part of 2014 is looking to be very active with releases set for Stockholm LTD, Mindtrip, Traut Muzik and the launch of his own label, Points of Departure.
